Implications for Metrology

The framework lends itself to application of a variety of SI measures** to convert the energy cost of data generation phase values (energy cost to convert harvested data to Economic Value equivalent for accounting purposes).

These include: watts (W: power, radiant flux), joules (J: energy, work, heat), coulombs (C: electric charge or quantity of electricity), metres per second squared (m/s2: acceleration), and grays vs. sieverts (Gy vs. Sv:  absorbed vs. equivalent dose of ionizing radiation) where “Economic Value” = a nation’s Fiat Currency or Equivalent Value (tax credits, cash, tax rules, accounting reporting rules, etc.).

** The scientific study of measurement is managed by BIPM: Bureau international des poids et mesures (English: International Bureau of Weights and Measures), Sèvres, France.
